RIFENO METHODOLOGY
How we evaluate and rank software.
Our rankings are designed around real home-service workflows, buyer fit and transparent trade-offs—not feature-count contests or affiliate payouts.
Our six-part evaluation framework
| Area | What we look for |
|---|---|
| Workflow fit | How well the product supports the actual path from lead → quote → scheduled work → field execution → invoice → payment. |
| Business fit | Trade, team size, job duration, service vs project work, office complexity and growth stage. |
| Usability | How much setup, training and daily friction the system introduces for owners, office staff and field teams. |
| Total cost | Published pricing where available, user limits, plan tiers, required add-ons and the cost of growing into the system. |
| Depth & scalability | Whether the product has enough reporting, automation, dispatch, permissions and integrations for the business it targets. |
| Trade-offs | Who should avoid the tool, what it does not solve well and when a simpler or more specialized option may be better. |
How we build a shortlist
We begin with the reader’s use case rather than a brand name. A solo contractor, a five-person service company and a multi-location operation can all need field-service software while requiring very different levels of automation, dispatching, reporting and administration.
Products are considered based on relevance to the specific guide. We then compare the strongest candidates using the framework above and explain which business profiles each option is best suited to.
Where our information comes from
For material pricing, plan and feature claims, we prioritize current first-party sources such as vendor pricing pages, official product documentation and help-center articles. We may use reputable third-party sources to understand market context or user experience, but vendor marketing claims are not treated as independent proof of quality.
What “tested” means on RIFENO
We only describe a product as tested, hands-on or personally evaluated when we have actually used or directly evaluated it in that way. Researching documentation alone does not count as hands-on testing.
Commercial relationships do not determine rankings
RIFENO may earn commissions through affiliate or referral relationships. Those relationships do not guarantee that a product is included, recommended or placed first. A product without an affiliate program can rank above a commercial partner when our evaluation indicates it is the better fit for the audience and use case.

Corrections and updates
Software changes quickly. We aim to re-check material pricing, plan and feature claims when we publish or materially revise a guide. If new information changes the best recommendation, the ranking should change with it—even when that reduces potential affiliate revenue.
Our methodology is intended to make the basis for a recommendation understandable to both readers and potential software partners. We value accuracy, clear disclosure and long-term reader trust over short-term conversion.
